A 14-year-old was arrested in connection to the shooting at a high school football game in Mayfield, Kentucky, that left one person injured, according to police.
The juvenile, who is from Fulton, Kentucky, was charged with first-degree assault, officials said.
The shooting occurred in during the fourth quarter of the “Battle of the Birds” football game between Graves County and Mayfield High School.
The shooting followed a physical altercation between the victim, later identified as 18-year-old Jordan Riley of Farmington, Kentucky, and the 14-year-old, Mayfield Police officials said. The incident occurred in a parking area near the high school’s War Memorial football stadium.
Riley was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and was later flown to Nashville for treatment.
The 14-year-old is now being held at a juvenile detention center, according to Mayfield Police.

“The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information, or witnesses to the incident, to contact the Mayfield Police Department,” officials said.
After the incident, all additional Mayfield school activities last weekend were cancelled and counselors were made available.
