Let’s be honest: America is going through a very interesting time when it comes to our government and the laws that are (not really) being upheld. So when Reddit user CassandraTheBard asked: “What law doesn’t exist yet in the U.S. that would help millions of people immediately?” over 5,000 people provided their very honest thoughts on the matter. Here’s what they said below:
1. “Do like Canada: If the government cannot function, throw everyone out and hold new elections to replace them.”

“Yep. Australia does this, too. Double dissolution means if the Senate refuses to pass the same bill twice, then it’s all dissolved, and we go back to the polls.
Last time this happened was in 2016.”
2. “All politicians, past and present, are subject to all the laws of the land regardless of where they are.”
3. “Term limits at every level.”

“And upper age limits for when you can last run for office.”
4. “Politicians should wear uniforms with their corporate sponsors on them like racing drivers.”
5. “How about enforcing the law… period.”

“This is the answer. I was a cop. There are plenty of laws on the books, and half of them never get enforced.
Any cop will tell you that certain laws don’t get heavily enforced in certain jurisdictions because the court system just won’t enforce them.”
6. “Eliminate senator stock trading.”
7. “Ban on gambling ads.”

“How about a ban on gambling APPS! They’re too easily accessible and cause so many more problems because it’s literally a casino in your palm.”
“Candy Crush walked so Draft Kings could run.”
“I build mobile games for a living. There are 100% people who have lost their houses because they spent $100K+ on Candy Crush.”
8. “Privacy protection from businesses.”
“Consumer data should only be owned by the consumer. Companies should pay you directly to access your data. You can pick and revoke who gets it.”
9. “When the government shuts down, all taxes are paused for Americans.”

“And if the federal employees don’t get paid, then neither do the politicians.”
“If federal employees don’t get paid, Congress isn’t allowed to go home or close until an agreement is made.”
10. “Truth in advertising.”
11. “Regulate insurance companies! Their overreach has gotten waaaay out of control. Also, get insurance out of medicine. They don’t get to tell doctors what they can and can’t do anymore.”

12. “Eliminate lobbying.”
“There is some good lobbying that is needed. I think a better solution would be federally funded elections. This would keep private money from influencing elections, as currently, politicians need to raise money to get into office and stay in office.”
13. “Universal healthcare.”

14. “Corporations can’t own housing.”
“100% this. Or at least they can’t own single-family housing.”
15. “Guaranteed paid vacation.”

“Paid sick leave.”
“Went through a whole-ass pandemic and most states still don’t have paid sick leave or only allow it if you’re a cop or some shit. Ridiculous.”
16. “Ranked choice voting would eliminate the two-party system and a 180-degree turn in policies every 4-8 years.”
17. And finally, “All realistic AI-generated images must be clearly labeled as such. Penalties should escalate based on the distribution of the image.”
