Two New Jersey residents wanted in the shooting of a teenager in Paterson last spring were arrested this week in Florida.
Darren Salazar, 19, and Janelly Ramos, 20, were arrested Tuesday afternoon Central Florida, according to a spokesperson for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
Salazar and Ramos were arrested near the intersection of Red Bug Lake Road and Tuskawilla Road in an unincorporated part of Seminole County, the spokesperson said.
New Jersey Superior Court records show warrants were issued for the pair on Monday for first-degree attempted murder.
Salazar is also charged with three weapons offenses, including fourth-degree possession of a large capacity magazine.
According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on May 11 in the area of Madison and Second Avenues.
Paterson police officers located the teen victim, who had been shot multiple times but was still alive.
He was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with injuries not considered life threatening.
Jail records show Ramos was arrested Tuesday in Seminole County on the New Jersey warrant and remained held without bond Wednesday at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
She was due to appear in court at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29.
According to WESH 2, Salazar tried to flee from detectives and was struck by an unmarked sheriff’s office vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.
