A man remains missing after he was swept into the ocean along with two others at a beach in California.
At around 3 p.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 22, authorities were alerted by California State Parks that two women and one man had been “swept off the rocks into the ocean” at Soberanes Point in the Garrapata State Park, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said in a news release shared on Facebook.
The two women made it back to shore on their own and were transported to a local hospital with “unknown injuries.” A search operation is still being conducted for the missing man, who is believed to be about 30 years old, per the MCSO.
“A large-scale multi-agency response was initiated that included California State Parks, CalFire, CHP, Monterey County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and the US Coast Guard, which provided assistance with a helicopter and ocean vessel,” police said.
A body had been spotted in the ocean by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter at around 4:24 p.m. on Nov. 22. However, the U.S. Coast Guard quickly lost sight of the body “due to high turf” and was unable to recover it from the water, according to the MCSO.

The missing man is said to be wearing “a white turban, black shirt, black shorts and a black colored vest-style jacket.”
Search efforts were suspended on the evening of Nov. 22 “due to darkness and in consideration for the safety of our first responders.”
They are set to resume on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 23, per the MCSO.

Authorities are searching for a missing man who was swept away at Garrapata State Park
The latest incident comes after a similar one involving a family took place at Garrapata State Park earlier this month.
On Nov. 14, deputies responded to reports of a 7-year-old girl who was swept into the ocean by 15 to 20-foot-high waves.
The girl’s father, 39-year-old Yuji Hu, jumped in the water to try and rescue her, but he was also swept away.
Hu was later pulled from the water, but he died in the hospital. The girl’s mother was also dragged in the water, but she recovered in “stable condition” after the incident with “mild hypothermia,” according to the MCSO.
A diver later found the body of the girl around half a mile north of where she was swept away by waves on Nov. 16.
