Multiple people have been hospitalized after a bus overturned and crashed in California.

On Sunday, Nov. 9, San Bernardino County Fire confirmed in a post on X that the bus overturned along State Route 330 (Hwy 330) in the neighborhood of Fredalba in Running Springs.

The bus had been carrying a total of 36 people, “including adults and teens” when the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. local time, according to KTLA.

“A total of 20 patients were transported, including three with severe injuries,” San Bernardino County Fire wrote on X. “The remainder of the passengers suffered minor injuries and were not transported or reported no injury at all.”

Officials added, “Highway 330 remains closed in both directions until further notice.”

In another post on X, the fire department confirmed that there was no fire or vehicle hazards.

PEOPLE has contacted San Bernardino County Fire for further comment.

In a photo shared by the fire department, passengers could be seen being assessed by first responders, with one wearing what appeared to be a neck brace. In an earlier post on X, authorities said three passengers had been upgraded to “immediate status,” while others were being transported to local area hospitals.
