The Police in Niger State have arrested five suspected armed robbers who allegedly murdered some of their victims.
The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, made this known on Monday in a statement where he disclosed that
One of the suspects, 18-year-old Jamilu Abdullahi, a.k.a Zabo, who had been on the run for alleged murder, was now in the police net.
Abiodun further disclosed that a sting operation by the command’s operatives also led to the arrest of other suspected thugs with dangerous weapons, including three sharp knives, scissors, and drugs suspected to be cannabis.
“Further to the clamp down on thuggery and other criminality in Minna metropolis and its environs, on 2nd August, 2025 at about 12am, an intelligence-led raid operation carried out around Stadium road, Minna by the Police operatives attached to ‘A’ Div Minna led to the arrest of one Jamilu Abdullahi, a.k.a Zabo 18 years of Abdulsalam quarters.
“He was found with a pointed, sharp iron used for stabbing and robbing victims. The suspect has been on the wanted list of the Command for suspected culpable homicide of other persons, and he has been on the run.
“He was reported to be among the gang leaders of Musa Kaura, Kaule and Gaiye terrorising Angwan-Daji, Limawa, New-market and Maitumbi areas.
“He has been transferred to SCID Minna and is assisting the Police investigation with a view to arresting other members of his gang. He will be charged to court for prosecution after investigation.
Similarly, on August 6, 2025, at about 3am-5am, the Anti-thuggery unit of the command conducted a sting operation in Barkin-Sale areas, and four additional suspects were arrested.
“The suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons that included three sharp knives, scissors and suspected cannabis,” Abiodun again revealed.
The command spokesman said all the suspects were under investigation and would be prosecuted at the conclusion of the investigations.
