MISSOURI — According to a study by car insurance experts at Compare the Market, over one million cars are stolen every year in the U.S., the equivalent of one vehicle stolen every 30 seconds.
The study broke down which states rate the highest in the country based on theft rate per 100 thousand people, total thefts, cars stolen in a day and cars stolen in an hour.
According to the table below, Colorado is ranked number one as the riskiest state to park your car.
In Missouri, 29,815 cars were stolen last year, ranking the state as the 7th highest in the country for vehicle thefts per 100,000 residents. This is an average of 82 cars stolen every day.
