In a now-viral clip from the Now This Impact podcast, Obama shared his thoughts on how he believes the Republican party would’ve reacted if he’d sent National Guard troops to a Republican-led city, similar to what Trump is doing in Washington D.C, Chicago, and Portland.
“If I had sent in the National Guard into Texas, and just said, you know what, a lot of problems in Dallas. You know, a lot of crime there. And uh, I don’t care what Governor Abbott says, I’m going to kinda take over law enforcement because I think things are out of control.”
“It is mind-boggling to me how Fox News would’ve responded,” Obama said.

“I remember, there was a moment. I don’t remember what year this was, where the military just had regular exercises in Texas…And Ted Cruz, and a number of other folks, were out there lending credence to the fact that I was preparing for, you know, the whole black helicopter, one world government, I was about to take over Texas.”

“This was like a sitting US senator….I didn’t monitor military exercises because you know what? That was the Pentagon’s job. That was the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff…That was their job to prepare and focus on military readiness.”
“The point is, we have blown through, just in the last six months, a whole range of, not simply assumptions, but rules and laws, and practices…”
Online commenters echoed Obama’s comments, predicting how it would’ve played out on Fox News. “If Obama did this FOX would have had a whole special on a countdown to communism and how Obama’s use of the military to do this is right in step with Marxist tyranny and how the U.S. is about to descend into a communist hellscape. I can’t stand tribalism,” one person said.
