An active shooter in an Oklahoma State University dorm left at least three people injured during homecoming weekend.
According to the OSU Police Department, officials responded to Carreker East Residential Hall after multiple shooting victims arrived at off-campus locations in Stillwater, Okla., at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19.
OSU Chief of Police Michael Beckner confirmed there were multiple victims, all of whom are being treated at hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. At least one of the victims is known to be a student at the university.
While officials are on the scene and investigating, OSU law enforcement has determined that there is no ongoing threat to campus.

“Initial reports indicate a large, private party occurred at an off-campus location,” police said in a statement. “After the gathering disbanded, some attendees returned to Carreker East where the shooting occurred.”
Authorities have not specified if any suspects are in custody or if any suspects were among those injured.
According to News 9, a student living at Carreker East said that he heard several gunshots in the early hours on Sunday and saw students running outside from his balcony.

The incident comes amid Oklahoma State University’s 2025 homecoming celebrations, deemed “America’s Greatest Homecoming,” which saw many alumni and families flock to the area to tailgate, watch the Sea of Orange Parade and celebrate the big football game against the University of Cincinnati.
Officials are encouraging students who don’t live in Carreker East to avoid the area.
Oklahoma State University policy prohibits the use of weapons and firearms on campus: “Students, faculty, and staff at Oklahoma State University (OSU) can best learn, work, and live in an environment free from dangers and constraints, both physical and psychological, which can arise from unauthorized weapons, firearms, ammunition, fireworks, explosives, and dangerous chemicals on the campus. Similar items used for decorative purposes or rendered inoperable are included in this policy.”
