A socio-political group in Akwa Ibom State, E’ekpede Initiative, has said it was established to support President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno in their re-election bids come 2027.
Speaking during a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat in Uyo on Monday, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the E’ekpede Initiative, Mr Adede Inima, said the initiative was “a child of necessity to help push the right narrative, deepen our democratic experience, and point a clear-cut direction for our people.”
Inima said, “Our aim is clear, our mission is unmistakable, and we are poised to push for the re-election of the above-mentioned distinguished Nigerians, not out of any ulterior motive or selfish agenda, but because returning them to office in 2027 is in the overall interest and development of our nation and state.”
He highlighted Tinubu’s achievements, noting that the reform policies introduced by his administration had started yielding dividends.
According to him, “Today, we are lucky to have a President who understands that if the lives of the people must change positively, the states must be empowered to drive that change.
“This he has done through his bold policies that have put more cash in the hands of governors, helping them to carry out projects without running to financial institutions cap in hand for loans.
“We have a President who has positively renewed the hopes of Nigerians and is audaciously steering the country on the path of economic stability and growth.”
Inima also lauded Eno, describing him as a highly focused and people-oriented leader.
“In our state, God has given us a leader who understands the language of empathy and people-centered leadership, a highly focused governor who is obsessed with making life better for the people, bringing life back to our rural communities, and touching lives in ways that only a man of his mould can,” he said.
He said being on the same page and in the same progressive party with the Federal Government was a big plus for the state.
“We are now on the same page and in the same progressive party with the Federal Government. This is a big plus for us, a movement we must join hands to support, ensuring that nothing derails this boat of transformation, unity, and peace for the all-around accelerated development of our state.”
Speaking on Akpabio, Inima stated, “With Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President, sitting pretty as the number three citizen of our country, we cannot afford to play blind politics of backwardness anchored on hopelessness and uncertainty.
“We must unite as a people who mean well for our state and country and ensure that, under the progressive train, we support and spread the message of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Pastor Umo Eno, and Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.
“This is a task that we must collectively join hands to accomplish, because it is not just the right thing to do but a just cause that is politically wise for us in Akwa Ibom at this material time.”
