The St. Charles Grammar School Old Boys Association-Diaspora has called for stronger collaboration between the Osun State Government, educational authorities, and alumni associations of secondary schools to raise the standard of education in the state.
The appeal was contained in the resolutions reached at the association’s convention, tagged “Charleans in Diaspora Convention 2025,” held in Texas, United States of America.
SCOBA-Diaspora, comprising former students of St. Charles Grammar School, Osogbo, noted that a deliberate policy harmonising the efforts of alumni groups, education regulators, and government agencies would help secondary school students achieve better academic performance.
Delegates from Africa, Americas, Europe, and Asia attended the convention, which also emphasised the need for the Federal Government to regularly review the national curriculum in line with evolving societal demands, particularly in science and technology.
The meeting also witnessed the election of new executives, with Charlean Mudashiru Adeosun emerging as president. He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessors.
In his valedictory address, the immediate past president, Ghazal Ajijolaiya, highlighted the association’s contributions, including the renovation and equipping of the AFOLALU building at their alma mater, payment of WAEC and NECO fees for students, provision of palliatives during COVID-19, and motivational awards for students and teachers.
