A concerned alumnus of Liberty Academy, Ibadan, Wale Aribatise, has called on Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to urgently come to the aid of the school through repair of the roofs blown away by rainstorm.

Aribatise said that Oyo State Government’s urgent attention was necessary, as students of the school, who, alongside their counterparts across the state, would resume for a new session in mid-September, deserved to study in a conducive atmosphere.

The Ekiti State-based alumnus, in a statement titled ā€˜SOS to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State’ made available in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, stated that ā€œrainstorms on June 8, 2025, removed the roofs of many classrooms and other buildings at Liberty Academy, Ibadan.

ā€œThe incident has been reported to the Oyo State Government for urgent attention and action, but as at today, the state ministries of Education and/or of Works are yet to take any proactive step to remedy the deplorable situation.

ā€œI don’t want to believe that the Government of Oyo State does not attend to distress calls and emergencies unless it touches people they know directly! This school belongs to the Government of Oyo State.

ā€œInformation has it that the students in Oyo State shall resume by mid-September 2025, while the damaged buildings remain without renovation now.

ā€œI appeal to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Seyi Makinde, to speedily attend to this emergency situation through renovation of the damaged buildings in the school before the fast-approaching resumption date.

ā€œThe governor’s intervention will save the students from the seasonal inclement weather, as they deserve to study in a conducive environment,ā€ the old student said.
