The All Progressives Congress candidate for the Kaduna Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election, Joseph Bagudu, has commended voters for a “massive turnout” during Saturday’s supplementary polls.
Speaking to journalists after casting his ballot at Polling Unit 003, Ungwan Madaki, Kanla, in Kajuru Local Government Area, Bagudu described the exercise as peaceful and orderly.
The election, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was held to fill the vacant Chikun/Kajuru seat following the death of Ekene Adams, the Labour Party lawmaker who represented the constituency until his demise on July 16, 2024.
Bagudu expressed optimism about his chances, linking the turnout to voter confidence in the ruling party and what he called the “sterling leadership” of Governor Uba Sani.
“The conduct of today’s election shows the people’s acceptance of our party and the leadership style of Governor Uba Sani. I believe this confidence will not only translate into victory at the polls but also ensure that the APC is returned in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
He also urged voters to remain law-abiding and to avoid any actions that could disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the exercise.
“We must continue to conduct ourselves peacefully to ensure a hitch-free election,” Bagudu added.
