The Bauchi State Government has expressed sorrow and sympathy to the government and people of Kebbi State over the attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area.
The message of sympathy was conveyed in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Maina.
Recall that gunmen attacked the Kebbi girls’ boarding school on Monday, killing the vice principal and a security guard, and abducting 25 female students.
The Bauchi State Government described the attack as not only a major setback for Kebbi but also a painful blow to the entire education sector.
It added that “the Bauchi State Ministry of Education is in solidarity with the Kebbi State Ministry of Education, the affected families, and the entire community during this difficult time.
“We pray for the safe return of the abducted students and extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.
“We also commend the efforts of security agencies as they work toward rescuing the students and restoring safety in the area.
“The Bauchi State Ministry of Education reaffirms its support and sympathy to the people of Kebbi and calls for collective efforts to safeguard schools and ensure the protection of learners across the country.”
