Levels not seen in 15 years… Lake Shasta, the largest reservoir in California, has made headlines for a third straight year. The lake’s water levels soared above capacity in July, thanks to additional storms since the January 2025 saturation, which created an increase not seen since 2011. The overall streak has been quite an impressive and dramatic change. Especially when looking at the timeline of the drought-riddled lake beginning in 2021, a timeframe that included measurements of 38% capacity. As of July 2025, the lake’s levels were at a recorded 107% capacity.
