The cause of death has been determined for the Nebraska man found dead in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Blake Kieckhafer of Omaha, Nebraska, was reported missing Aug. 11 after he was last seen in Rocky Mountain National Park on Aug. 7.

Blake Kieckhafer, 23, of Omaha, Nebraska, was reported missing to Rocky Mountain National Park officials Aug. 11, according to a park news release. Kieckhafer was last seen about the night of Aug. 7 when he was dropped off by a rideshare service in the Upper Beaver Meadows area of the park.

On Aug. 13, the park announced that a body believed to be Kieckhafer was found in the Emerald Lake area of the park.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office, with assistance from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office through DNA comparison, confirmed the decedent’s identity as Kieckhafer.

Based on the circumstances at the scene where Kieckhafer was found and the death investigation, authorities believe Kieckhafer died from an accidental fall on Aug. 9, according to the coroner’s office.
