Centenary College of Louisiana has officially opened the Bicentennial Village just months after breaking ground.

“Opening the Village during our Bicentennial year is an exciting development for students as it shows Centenary’s dedication to honoring our past while building spaces that will shape the next century of student life,” Sam Brocato (’26), Student Government Association president and biology major said.

In February 2025, the liberal arts college broke ground on the new apartment-style residence, making it the first building to be built on the campus in more than 20 years.

“We are so pleased and excited not only to offer our students a new option for housing, but for the progress for Centenary this represents,” said Dr. Christopher Holoman, president of Centenary College of Louisiana. “As the first completely new building completed since 2002, it is a wonderful beginning to Centenary’s third century.”

This construction not only provided new housing for Centenary but also provided $6 million in direct economic impact for the local economy.

VAS Construction LLC, a local construction company, was selected to manage the project.

“Our team is honored to play a part in the growth of Centenary College, and we are grateful that the Board of Trustees had faith in us to bring the Bicentennial Village to life,” Justin Sevier, Vintage Homes and VAS Construction Managing Partner said.

He continued by stating this project could not have been accomplished without the commitment of local sub-contractors, suppliers and business owners.

Bicentennial Village is comprised of four, three-story buildings that can house up to 96 students. Each floor of the four buildings has six rooms that open into a large living area and kitchen with full-size appliances.
