Cheryl Hines fears for her husband Robert F. Kennedy’s life

Cheryl Hines knew life would never be the same after her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., launched his short-lived presidential campaign in 2023.

The former “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star still worries for his safety now that the political scion she married in 2014 is the Trump administration’s polarizing secretary of health and human services.

“I think every day somebody would say to me, ‘Are you worried about him getting shot like his father and like his uncle?’” she said in an interview slated to run on “CBS Mornings” Tuesday.

Kennedy’s father, Robert F. Kennedy, was killed in Los Angeles in 1968 while campaigning for the presidency. That assassination came five years after President John F. Kennedy was shot while greeting supporters in Dallas, Texas.

Hines said the fact her husband wasn’t given Secret Service protection when he announced his candidacy caused her concern.

“I was very worried about it,” she said in an interview preview posted Monday.

The Biden administration said in July 2024 Kennedy would receive federal protection after an attempt was made on the life of Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Kennedy said in April 2023 he would seek the Democratic Party nomination as his father and uncle had in the 1960s. Six months later he decided to run as an independent. Kennedy left the race in August 2024 to support Trump.

That doesn’t mean her 71-year-old spouse is in the clear, according to Hines.

“[I’m] still worried about it,” she confessed.

The 60-year-old actor told CBS she suspects her husband makes her feel safe by withholding information that might cause concern.

“I don’t think Bobby tells me all of the threats that he gets,” Hines said.

Kennedy told podcaster Joe Rogan in June 2023 he doesn’t fear being assassinated, but he thinks about it.

“I’m not stupid about it and I take precautions,” Kennedy said.
