The Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps, a faith-based non-denominational organisation in Nigeria, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed Service Chiefs of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
PUNCH Online had reported that President Bola Tinubu, on Friday, announced the appointment of new Service Chiefs in the country.
In a statement issued by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, was replaced by Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, who was, until his appointment, the Chief of Army Staff.
Major-General Waili Shaibu was named as the new Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshall Sunday Kelvin Aneke is the new Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral Idi Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff. However, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General EAP Undiendeye, retain his position.
The change in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs was in furtherance of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the national security architecture.
However, in a statement issued by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Daniel Eloyi Ocholongwa, in Uyo on Sunday, NCCC under the leadership of Commanding Officer, Chaplain Daniel Joe Alimi, commended President Bola Tinubu for the timely and strategic appointments, expressing confidence that the new Service Chiefs will bring renewed commitment, discipline, and professionalism to the nation’s security architecture.
He assured the military leadership of continuous prayers and moral support of the Chaplain Corps, emphasising that national security requires both spiritual and moral strength alongside tactical operations.
“We celebrate your appointment and the weighty responsibility it carries. We commit ourselves to upholding a posture of prayer, moral support, and cooperation with you, so that our beloved nation may experience both security and spiritual flourishing.
“I pray that God grants you divine wisdom, courage, and sound judgment as you take up this sacred responsibility of safeguarding the nation at this critical period.
”The Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps stands in solidarity with our Armed Forces in their quest to defend the sovereignty and peace of our beloved country,” he stated
He also reiterated the Corps’ readiness to continue collaborating with the military and other security agencies through interfaith engagement, moral reorientation, and community-based peace initiatives.
“The challenges before you are many, but so is the promise of a united and peaceful Nigeria. May you be guided by integrity, service, and humility.
“I, and every Chaplain in the NCCC, remain committed to promoting peace, unity, and spiritual awakening across the nation, while supporting all security formations in the collective effort to achieve lasting national stability,” he stated.
