STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (WJW) – On the same day as a public memorial in Arizona, people across Northeast Ohio gathered to honor conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Hundreds came together Sunday night at Strongsville Commons for a prayer vigil organized by the Strongsville GOP.

“It’s a beautiful tribute. It’s a good community,” Strongsville resident Tom Dzurko said.
The event included worship, reflection and prayers celebrating Kirk’s life.
“He was a man of great faith, and he was hoping we would all embrace that,” resident Pam Stephan said.
Kirk was killed on September 10 while speaking at a college in Utah.
“We’re tired of the violence. It’s sad that someone would be killed because somebody didn’t like what they said,” resident Yvonne Hullinger said.

Meanwhile, dozens more gathered on a hillside outside Stow City Hall, where another vigil celebrated Kirk’s life and legacy.
Both vigils took place just hours after a public service in Arizona that drew national attention, including appearances from the president and vice president.
For many in Strongsville, the evening wasn’t just about mourning—it was about unity.
“The reality goes to the basic principles of humanity, values, and morals. Killing at any point is wrong, especially for just speaking your opinion,” resident Joelene Dzurko said.
