Jeffrey Epstein’s girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, raved in prison emails obtained by NBC News about feeling like “Alice in Wonderland” due to the comfort of the minimum-security facility she was moved to after interviewing with a Trump official.
Maxwell, 63, who was sentenced to 20 years for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors, was initially incarcerated at a federal facility in Tallahassee, FL, that NBC News on Saturday called “more restrictive than a camp like FPC Bryan, where inmates have access to work programs, recreation and other activities and are often serving shorter sentences.”
Maxwell was moved to the prison camp within days of speaking with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in July. During her interview, Maxwell did not implicate Donald Trump in Epstein’s crimes and may be still hoping for a presidential pardon.
In prison emails sent to the House Judiciary Committee and later obtained by NBC News, Maxwell wrote, “My situation is improved by being at Bryan.”
Another email read, “The institution is run in an orderly fashion which makes for a safer more comfortable environment for all people concerned, inmates and guards alike.”
And another said,“The kitchen looks clean too — no possums falling from the celling to fry unfortunately on ovens, and become mingled with the food being served.”
Maxwell praised the prison camp warden as a “true professional,” adding “I feel like I have dropped through Alice in Wonderlands looking glass…I am much much happier here and more importantly safe.”
Epstein committed suicide in jail in 2019 while preparing to stand trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.
The fallout from the Epstein-Maxwell crimes led to Great Britain’s Andrew Mountbatten Windsor losing his titles, including that of prince, and being banished from the royal family. Victim Virginia Guiffre, who released a posthumous book about the abuse she suffered as a teenager, died by suicide earlier this year.
Dozens of other Epstein-Maxwell survivors rallied on Capitol Hill in September to share their stories and offer support for the a House bill that would force the release of all government files related to the case.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has kept the House out of session for six weeks allegedly to avoid swearing in a newly-elected Democratic lawmaker who has said she will be the definitive vote needed to release the Epstein files to Congress.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing.
