The Chairman of the Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Jimoh Olawale, has promised to improve staff welfare through a support package, including the establishment of a staff clinic and provision of buses for various departments.

Speaking at a staff forum held at the council secretariat on Wednesday, Jimoh assured workers of several welfare improvements and enhanced working tools. These include a clinic for staff, a utility vehicle for the Works and Infrastructure Department, a bus for the Revenue Unit, and a general staff bus.

The chairman also announced additional measures such as an end-of-year bonus, salary increments for non-pensionable staff, recognition for retirees, and continuous staff training.

According to a release from the Public Affairs Unit, Jimoh lauded the staff for their dedication and cooperation.

He appealed for continued support, stressing that “with full staff cooperation, we can together take Apapa-Iganmu LCDA to a greater height.”

Supporting the chairman’s pledge, the Vice Chairman, Fadeke Otitonaiye, reassured the workers that all promises would be fulfilled.

She also announced the provision of a bus for the National Union of Local Government Employees to support their mobility for official assignments, especially at the state level.

The Council Manager, Badmus Lateef, speaking on behalf of the staff, expressed confidence that the chairman would deliver on all promises. He encouraged staff to seek clarification on unclear issues, stay committed, and be innovative in their roles.

The Head of Admin and Human Resources, Akitoye Adedamola, educated staff on the Public Service Rules, emphasising punctuality, discipline, and the importance of upgrading academically.

The HOD, Education, Jinadu Olalekan, announced the chairman’s free kindergarten initiative, offering free books and uniforms for staff children, along with daycare support for nursing mothers.
