NEED TO KNOW

  • Anthony Williams has been accused of attempted murder after a stabbing incident on a train service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross on Saturday, Nov. 1

  • Williams, 32, allegedly slashed the face of Damson Idris’s 17-year-old nephew earlier that day while on the Docklands Light Railway

  • Isaiah Ishmael Idris is among the youngest of the at least 11 victims wounded in the stabbing spree

Damson Idris‘s teenage nephew has been identified among the youngest victims of a stabbing rampage in England.

The British Transport Police (BTP) revealed in a news release on Tuesday, Nov. 4, that a 17-year-old boy “suffered facial injuries” after being attacked with a knife on London’s Docklands Light Railway.

The incident came just hours before police officers received reports that multiple others were stabbed onboard an LNER train service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross.

Isaiah Ishmael Idris, who is the 17-year-old nephew of British actor Damson, 34, is believed to be among the youngest victims of the knifeman responsible for the mass stabbing, according to the Metro and the Daily Mail.

After being attacked at around 00:46 a.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 1, Isaiah allegedly “staggered” off the train at Pontoon Dock station and called the U.K. emergency number 999, per the Metro.

Suspect Anthony Williams, 32, left the location before police arrived at the scene, according to the BTP’s news release. He was located and arrested later that day.

Damson has not yet commented on his nephew’s reported injuries. However, Isaiah’s other uncle, Habeeb Idris, confirmed the incident.

“I am aware that Isaiah was involved in the incident on a train, but we are dealing with this privately as a family,” Habeeb told the Daily Mail.

The British Transport Police (BTP) were alerted to multiple people being stabbed on another train at around 7:42 p.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 1. At least 10 people were found wounded at the scene and were taken to a local hospital for treatment, the BTP said in a previous news release.

After several stabbing incidents between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, Williams appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court accused of attempting murder on Monday, Nov. 3.

Seven of the victims injured in the stabbing sprees were discharged from hospital as of Tuesday. One patient, a train staff member remains in stable but critical condition and three other patients remain stable in the hospital, the BTP confirmed.

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said in a statement, “The criminal investigation is a priority for BTP, and we are working closely with Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service.”

“We have also this week initiated measures to increase the visibility of police officers across the railway network to reassure both rail staff and the traveling public.”

PEOPLE has reached out to Damson Idris and the British Transport Police for comment.
