The President of the Greater Ogonisin Diaspora Organisation, Chief Ambrose Kii, has congratulated Hon. Emmanuel Deeyah, President of KAGOTE (Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme), on his successful inauguration as Chairman of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) Board of Trustees.
In a goodwill message on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Chief Kii hailed Deeyah’s emergence as a “well-deserved recognition of his tested leadership qualities and proven track record in public service.”
“Hon. Emmanuel Deeyah has distinguished himself right from his days in the Rivers State House of Assembly and later at the Federal House of Representatives,” Chief Kii said. “He has carried that same spirit of integrity and commitment into his leadership of KAGOTE, and today, the Ogoni nation is proud of his elevation.”
He expressed confidence that Deeyah’s appointment would bring a renewed drive toward the full implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report on Ogoniland.
“With his antecedents, there is no doubt in my mind that Hon. Deeyah has the capacity to lead HYPREP to deliver tangible results. His wealth of experience and credibility give us hope that this new chapter will move Ogoniland closer to the long-awaited environmental and economic restoration,” Kii noted.
The GODO President also appealed for unity among Ogonis at home and abroad, cautioning against distractions from individuals who do not mean well for the people.
“We must not allow unnecessary agitations sponsored by enemies of Ogoni progress to derail this opportunity,” he stressed. “Our role as Ogonis is to support him, encourage him, and stand with him in prayer so that he can succeed.”
Chief Kii reaffirmed GODO’s support for Deeyah’s tenure, pledging that the organisation would continue to work in solidarity with him.
“On behalf of the Greater Ogonis in Diaspora, I assure Hon. Deeyah that we will stand firmly behind him. We will continue to support and pray for his success because his success is the success of Ogoni people everywhere,” he declared.
