Has Ohio finally conquered “false fall” as temperatures are expected to briefly rise once again in central Ohio?
The term refers to the period of cooler temperatures in early autumn before they rise to mild or warm, summer-like temperatures.
The weekend saw some warmer temperatures and clear skies, with highs expected to reach 71 degrees on Saturday, Oct. 11 and a high near 74 degrees on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Warm conditions should continue into Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 13, with a high of 75 degrees. The warm weather peaks on Tuesday, Oct. 14, with a high near 76 degrees.
While to some it may seem like a “second summer,” the official term refers to a heatwave of 70 degrees Fahrenheit or more for a period of at least seven days after the fall equinox and the first frost.
