The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has praised the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s by-election in the central senatorial district.
The Commandant, Mr. Gbenga Agun, made the commendation while monitoring polling units across Esan South-West, Esan Central, Esan North-East, and Esan South-East Local Government Areas.
Agun said the corps, in collaboration with other security agencies, ensured law and order throughout the exercise. He noted that the strategic deployment of personnel and adequate security measures contributed to the smooth conduct of the polls.
Moving across various polling units, Agun interacted with voters, assuring them of their safety and the protection of election materials.
“We have deployed our men and are working closely with other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful process,” he said.
He added, “The turnout may not be massive, but voters are casting their ballots without fear.”
