Oct. 27 (UPI) — A Texas police department shared video of a deer spotted with a hammock wrapped around its antlers, but officials said they will allow the “emo-chic accessory” to fall off on its own.
The Lago Vista Police Department said on social media that multiple locals have contacted authorities to report the deer seen wandering with a rope hammock tangled around its antlers.
“We’ve received a lot of calls regarding our local deer who’s fully embraced his emo era,” the department said, referring to the hammock’s resemblance to a certain early-2000s hairstyle.
“He’s been spotted proudly wearing a hammock tangled in his antlers, and while his ‘forest-core fashion’ has raised some eyebrows, rest assured, he’s totally fine,” the post said.
The Police Department said wildlife experts have reviewed the footage and determined the deer is not in any immediate danger from its unconventional headgear, and darting the animal to remove the hammock would create unnecessary risks to the animal and local community.
“Male deer naturally shed their antlers before the end of winter, which means his emo-chic accessory will fall off on its own soon enough,” officials wrote.
