The Federal Government has concluded plans to strengthen womenâs health while advancing economic equity across the country through a new initiative, RenewHER.
The initiative is designed to close persistent gender gaps that have left many women disadvantaged in both healthcare and financial participation.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Womenâs Health, Adanna Steinacker, said by linking health with economic empowerment, RenewHER is positioned to address these overlapping challenges in a coordinated way.
According to Steinacker, the programme will not only expand access to quality healthcare but also create avenues for women to thrive economically.
This, she said, was part of a broader effort to foster inclusive growth, reduce inequality, and ensure that women are equipped to contribute fully to national development.
âRenewHER is more than an initiative. It is a national call to action to redefine the future of womenâs health and economic equity in Nigeria,â she said in a statement on Tuesday.
Explaining how the initiative, Steinacker said RenewHER, which stands for Health, Equity, and Reform, is a data-driven, tech-enabled, and financially intelligent strategy designed to revolutionise womenâs health across Nigeria.
According to her, the initiative will serve as the countryâs central coordinating platform for womenâs health, mobilising public, private, and civil society actors to co-invest in scalable, community-driven solutions.
The special assistant said the RenewHER Launch Gala & Awards Night would be held at the Statehouse Banquet Hall, Abuja, adding that the plan is under the Presidential Womenâs Health Transformation Initiative led by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Womenâs Health.
At the Gala, she noted that guests will witness the unveiling of the âWomenâs Health Nigeriaâ Digital Media & Communications Hub, a powerful national platform for health advocacy, public health education, and storytelling.
âWith the Womenâs Health Nigeria Hub and Magazine, we are building a movement that will transform policy, empower communities, and inspire the next generation of health champions,â Steinacker said.
According to her, the unveiling will be complemented by the premiere edition of the Womenâs Health Nigeria Magazine, a signature publication dedicated to amplifying womenâs voices, highlighting innovations and complementing national efforts on six priority areas: maternal, newborn & child health; sexual & reproductive health; adolescent health & menstrual equity; nutrition & preventive care; healthcare workforce & access; and community coalition building.
The special assistant said the Federal Ministry of Health, the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative, the Nigerian Governorsâ Forum, the Nigerian Governorsâ Spouses Forum, and the Women in Healthcare Network are strategic partners for the initiative.
âRenewHER is set to drive measurable health outcomes while creating economic opportunities for women through behaviour-led financial reward systems, digital wallets, access to microgrants, skills training, and support for women-led health innovations,â she added.
