The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted to viral claims that Nigeria’s booth at the ongoing Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Japan was left unmanned.
Recall that an attendee at the conference, Idris Bello, had posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Nigeria’s exhibition booth was the only one without representatives unlike other countries at the event.
However, in a post on X on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed the claims, clarifying that the booth was not yet officially inaugurated.
The post read, “Contrary to a tweet made by a participant at TICAD, the Nigerian booth at #TICAD9 has not yet been opened.
“The booth will be officially inaugurated on Thursday, 21st August 2025, after which it will become fully operational and serve the delegates of TICAD.”
PUNCH Online reports that President Bola Tinubu arrived in Tokyo on Monday ahead of the three-day summit, which is expected to run from August 20 to 22.
