DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa State Fair can be an expensive trip for those on a budget, but there are a few places you can find rides and food that keep the trip under $20.
Jada’s Concessions offers a unique twist to a fair favorite, a corn dog with a brat inside instead of a hot dog. The stand is located south of the Susan Knapp Amphitheater, and the brat corn dog will cost $7.
Hoppy’s Lemonade has been a staple at the Iowa State Fair for 78 years. The stand is located on the south side of the Jacobsen Building and will cost $6 for various flavors of lemonade.
Ye Old Mill takes you on a trip down memory lane with the history of the Iowa State Fair. A ticket to ride will cost $3. While there, go across the street and pick up a free egg on a stick in the Agriculture Building!
To round out the day and the budget, a trip to the Iowa State Fair isn’t complete without a ride down the Giant Slide. A ride down will cost $4.
A food item, a classic lemonade, and two iconic rides all for $20 at the Iowa State Fair. The fair will remain open through August 17, open daily at 8 a.m.
