A chieftain of the Peopleās Democratic Party Haladu Mohammed has hailed Governor Ahmadu Fintiri over what he described as his humanitarian services and people oriented projects.
Haladu who spoke exclusively to Arewa PUNCH on Friday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital pointed out that the series of many social investment efforts innovated by the present administration to roll back poverty, unleash prosperity and promote the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Adamawa State has changed the lives of the people.
Haladu further observedĀ that the Fintiri government has reinforced the ingenious belief that the instrument for poverty alleviation must be institutional in both concept and operation.
He maintained that the present administration created the agency for Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation not only to combat poverty and its associated ingredients, but build an institutional framework to support entrepreneurship and restore the dignity of a large segment of Adamawa population.
The party chieftain disclosed that to tackle job unemployment, the administration trained over 55,000 youths in various trades and provided them with starter-packs to set up their own businesses.
As a result, he concluded that the Fintiri administration has fed the local industries which have continued to suffer from skills shortage from professionals to meet the demand for niche roles being created as a result of rapid technological development
Haladu disclosed that the Fintiri social investment corridor has kept over 60,000 beneficiaries on a monthly stipend of N10,000 in the last six years, pointing out that the scheme has improved the economy status of Adamawa residents.
āThe Fintiri Business Wallet for Adamawa women reinforces the administrationās commitment to wrestle poverty and open the doors of thousands of households to life-saving businesses and prosperity,ā he said.
According to the politician, with over 200,000 people benefiting from the poverty scheme, the administration has declared a total war on poverty in the state.
On infrastructural development,Ā he noted that Adamawa remains the only state in the north with modern facilities like road networks, schools, health institutions, and the best ultra-modern market under construction.
āKaduna and Kano are only parading tourist structures because of their old age and the ancestral attachment to those structures, but when you come to modern structures, Adamawa State is number one now in the north,ā he said.
He added that the security situation of the state has improved due to the governmentās engagement of youths in profitable ventures.
Haladu further disclosed that the construction of the 21 model schools in the 21 local governments has begun to address the crisis of out-of-school children, a situation which he said until recently posed danger to both the security and economy of the state and the entire north east region in future.
He urged other northern governors to emulate the governor Fintiriās model of governance to address insecurity and the economy backwardness of the region.
