Two missing children from Florida who were the subject of an Amber Alert earlier this week have been safely located in Georgia, according to authorities.

On Thursday, the Riviera Beach Police Department confirmed that 11-year-old Akachi Turner and 3-year-old Aizon Turner were found unharmed.

Their non-custodial mother, 43-year-old Audrey Turner, was taken into custody following their recovery. Here’s what happened.

What happened?

The original Amber Alert was issued in Florida Monday night, August 18, after the brothers were reported missing from West 6th Street in Riviera Beach.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the children were believed to be with Turner, who does not have legal custody and has an active warrant for child neglect in Miami-Dade County.

The mother was last seen wearing a black tank top and a cream skirt with black stripes, and authorities noted she might have a nose ring and her hair in a ponytail.

Authorities believed she was driving a black Toyota Camry with front-end damage, and alerts indicated they might be heading toward Georgia.

Specific charges and details have not yet been released. The Amber Alert has been canceled and the children are safe, and child welfare officials are expected to be involved in next steps.
