The Powerball jackpot continues to climb after nobody matched all the numbers and the Powerball in the Sept. 15 drawing, but for one lucky Florida ticket holder, there’s some good news.

A ticket sold at a Fort Myers Publix matched five numbers and the Power Play to win $2 million.
It was the only winner in Monday night’s drawing as the jackpot climbs to an estimated $81 million for the next drawing Sept. 17.

Powerball ticket worth $2 million sold at Publix in Fort Myers, Florida
A winning Powerball ticket in the Monday, Sept. 15, drawing was sold at the Publix on 2160 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers. It was a quick-pick ticket.
After matching five numbers and the Power Play, the prize is worth $2 million.

Fort Myers is located on Florida’s west coast, about 100 miles south of Tampa or 110 miles west of West Palm Beach.

Prizes for Florida Lottery must be claimed within 180 days from the date of the drawing.
To claim a single-payment cash option, a winner has within the first 60 days after the applicable draw date to claim it.

Can Florida lottery winners remain anonymous?
According to Florida Lottery’s website, winners cannot remain anonymous: “Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner’s name, city of residence; game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information.”
However, the site states, the “names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner.”
Lottery experts and lawyers have said there are ways to remain anonymous if you win.
