The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Sunday, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident involving a Kano Line passenger bus that departed from Gombe and claimed 13 lives, leaving five others injured.

According to reports, the Kano Line passenger bus was involved in a fatal crash while en route to Kano, resulting in the deaths of 13 passengers and injuries to five others.

But authorities have yet to release the full details of the cause of the accident.

In a condolence message issued by his Director-General (Press Affairs), Ismaila Misilli, the governor described the incident as “heartbreaking and a monumental loss” not only to the bereaved families but also to the nation.

“This is a deeply painful tragedy. The loss of 13 precious lives in a single incident is devastating,” Yahaya said.

The statement read, “My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the deceased and all those affected by this sad event. I also wish the injured passengers a speedy and complete recovery.”

Yahaya commiserated with the families of the victims, urging them to take solace in the will of the Almighty Allah, “who gives and takes life as He wills.”

He also extended sympathy to the management of Kano Line Transport Company and the Ibrahim Dankwambo Mega Motor Park in Gombe, from where the ill-fated vehicle reportedly took off, calling for a comprehensive review of safety measures to prevent future occurrences.

“I appeal to motorists to always exercise maximum caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during long-distance travel.

“We must all work together to minimise the risk of accidents and the needless loss of lives on our roads,” the governor said.

While consoling the bereaved, Yahaya prayed for divine comfort for the families and the repose of the souls of the deceased.

“On behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, I offer our deepest condolences. May Allah forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, comfort their families, and grant quick recovery to the injured,” he prayed.
