Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Friday presented 16 new official vehicles to senior judicial officers, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to enhancing the justice delivery system in the state.

The vehicles were allocated to the Chief Judge, High Court judges, the Grand Khadi, and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Yahaya was represented by his deputy, Dr Manassah Jatau, at the event.

Presenting the vehicles, Yahaya said the gesture reflected the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen judicial operations.

“This administration places high priority on a functional justice system. Providing these vehicles is part of our resolve to ensure judicial officers have the tools they need to deliver justice effectively,” he said.

The governor urged the beneficiaries to use the vehicles responsibly, emphasising that the state government expects improved service delivery.

“We are committed to supporting the judiciary, but we also expect enhanced productivity and quicker dispensation of justice,” he added.

On his part, Gombe State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zubairu Umar, praised Yahaya for honouring his promises to judicial workers.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Magaji Gambo, disclosed that the vehicles were procured at a cost exceeding ₦2bn.

He noted that the intervention was both overdue and necessary.

“The judiciary last received new vehicles a decade ago,” he revealed. “This investment reinforces judicial autonomy and equips our officers to serve with greater efficiency.”

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the judiciary, Chief Registrar of the High Court, Bello Sherif; Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Ibrahim Jibrin; and Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gombe Chapter, Alhassan Mu’azu, expressed appreciation for the gesture.
