Gombe State University Gets New Vice Chancellor

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Wednesday, approved the appointment of Professor Sani Yauta as substantive Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University.

This followed the recommendation of the institution’s Governing Council.

According to a press statement signed by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Shettima Gadam, conveyed the governor’s approval.

Yauta, a seasoned academic and administrator, is expected to bring renewed energy and leadership to GSU as the institution continues its drive for academic excellence, research innovation, and infrastructural development.

In a related development, Yahaya has also approved the appointment of principal officers for the College of Education and Legal Studies, Nafada in acting capacities, with immediate effect.

The appointments are in accordance with the College of Education and Legal Studies Law, 2021, Section 20, Sub-section 2, which empowers the Governor to make such appointments.

“Those appointed are Dr Dauda Mohammed (Acting Provost), Aishatu Mahmud Aliyu (Acting Registrar) and Ahijo Usman Mohammed (Acting Bursar),” the statement added.

According to the statements, these appointments are in line with the governor’s commitment to strengthening leadership in the state’s tertiary institutions and ensuring smooth administrative and academic operations.
