Oct. 1 (UPI) — A herd of five yaks escaped from a ranch in Ohio and made their way to a school about a mile away from the facility.
Indian Lake Schools said on social media that some sixth grade teachers spotted the Asian bovines munching on grass on the south side of Indian Lake Middle School around lunchtime Monday.
Sheriff’s deputies and personnel from Hidden Nook Ranch, located about a mile from the school, responded to the scene.

They attempted to wrangle the animals into a trailer, “but the yaks preferred to stay in the yard,” the post said.
“Facilities directors Matt Hurley and Dustin Plikerd grabbed some gates and everyone corralled the animals into the trailer,” officials wrote. “Some kids were outside for recess, but no students were anywhere close to the rogue yaks.”
