Temperatures are expected to drop sharply this weekend in Illinois, with snow in the forecast for some regions, according to the National Weather Service.

When is it going to snow in Illinois?
There’s only a 10-20% chance of measurable snow in areas north of I-74 Saturday, with scattered flurries likely on Sunday in central Illinois.
Snow will mix with rain by Sunday morning in Chicago as temperatures drop, with bands of lake effect snow likely on Sunday and Monday. Most areas won’t see any snow accumulation, except near Lake Michigan, where roads will likely become slippery.
Weekend forecast for central Illinois
Saturday: An 80% chance of rain, mainly after 3 p.m., with a high near 56 degrees and calm 6 mph winds during the day. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation possible. Temperatures will drop to around 30 in the evening, with rain mixing with snow after 3 a.m. and winds reaching up to 24 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Sunday: Mostly sunny during the day, with a high near 38 degrees and gusts up to 29 mph. Partly cloudy in the evening, with a low around 20 and gusts as high as 23 mph.
Monday: Sunny with a high near 39 degrees and winds as high as 24 mph during the day. Partly cloudy in the evening with a low around 23.
Weekend forecast for Chicago
Saturday: Rain mostly concentrated after 3 p.m. with a high near 48 degrees and 5-10 mph winds during the day. Up to a quarter inch of precipitation possible. Rain may mix with snow in the evening as the low drops to around 32, with gusts up to 25 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Sunday: Sunny with a 30% chance of snow during the day, mainly before noon. A high near 35 degrees and gusts as high as 30 mph. Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of snow and a low around 26 in the evening.
Monday: Sunny with a 30% chance of snow before noon and a high near 36 degrees. Partly cloudy with a low around 27 in the evening.
