U.S. News & World Report released several state rankings, looking at overall quality of life indicators like health care and education. But there’s a smaller one that bears particularly high notice.
As part of the infrastructure section, U.S. News ranked states by the quality of their roads based on the percentage of road miles considered to be in poor condition. Here’s what we know:
Does Georgia have good roads?
Georgia’s roads are doing fairly well as the Peach State was ranked No. 9 overall in this metric. Georgia also ranked No. 18 in the larger transportation metric and No. 13 in the even larger infrastructure metric.
How good are Georgia’s roads?
According to Georgia’s Infrastructure Report Card, about one-fourth of roads are in poor or fair condition. Of the more than 15,000 bridges, less than 2% were structurally deficient. Of the $12.7 billion in federal infrastructure investments, 71% will go towards transportation.
