Human remains have been found during the search for a missing man in North Dakota.
The remains were found around 3 p.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 15, during a family-organized search for Isaac Hunt, according to a news release published by the Spirit Lake Tribe.
Law enforcement “immediately” responded to the scene, the location of which has not been made public, “to secure the area and begin investigative procedures,” the tribe said on Sunday, Nov. 16.
In Saturday’s news release, tribe officials said “there is no confirmed connection between the remains and any individual” and that the Hunt family is asking for privacy while they await official findings.
Hunt has been missing since March 8, 2024, according to information published on the website for North Dakota’s Office of the Attorney General. He was 28 years old when he disappeared.
He was last seen leaving his father’s home in St. Michael, according to Valley News Live, the Grand Forks Herald and Buffalo’s Fire.
In a statement shared with the tribe, Phyllis DuBois, Isaac’s aunt, said “it has been hard to continue to ask for support” as the search for her nephew stretches on.
“We were nearing two years, and many times we felt alone in this search,” DuBois added. “We are grateful for everyone who has stood with us, especially today.”
Spirit Lake Tribal Chairwoman Lonna Jackson-Street reiterated their commitment to families of missing members.

“We hold these families in our hearts every day,” she said in a statement. “Their stories guide our work, and the Spirit Lake Tribe will continue supporting search efforts to ensure no one is forgotten.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating, according to the tribe.
