Human remains found near Kentucky Kroger, police say

Human remains were recovered by police in the woods behind a Kroger in Bellevue, Kentucky, on Sept. 24.

The wooded area is between the Kroger on 53 Donnermeyer Drive and Retreat Street, adjacent to a residential area. The location is only about a 10-minute walk from Newport High School and the Campbell County Library.

According to a social media post from Bellevue police, the cause of death is currently unknown.

Based on initial investigation, police say there is no known threat to the public and it appears to be an isolated incident.

The Campbell County Crime Scene Team is investigating.
