Federal immigration authorities have arrested two illegal aliens accused of murdering a 43-year-old woman whose body was discovered behind a tire shop in Austin earlier this month.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that agents took Jesus Llamas-Yanez and Javier Roman Hernandez, both criminal illegal aliens from Mexico, into custody on October 8, 2025. Officials identified the victim as Mary Gonzales, who they said had been shot to death.
“These alleged cold-blooded murderers should have never been in our country in the first place, and Mary Gonzales should still be alive,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“One of these criminals came into our country using Biden’s disastrous CBP One app,” McLaughlin added. “Open-border policies have deadly consequences. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, these accused murderers will never be free on American streets to commit heinous crimes again.”
ICE officials said the arrests highlight the ongoing public-safety risks associated with illegal immigration and recidivism.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, ICE officers in Houston earlier this year arrested 356 illegal aliens linked to violent gang activity. The agency said those detained belonged to more than 40 criminal gangs and had a combined 1,685 convictions, including arson and sexual assault of children. Many had re-entered the United States unlawfully more than once.
“Despite attempts by some to undermine the courageous work being done by our officers, the brave men and women of ICE continue to put their lives on the line every day to arrest violent transnational gang members, foreign fugitives, and dangerous illegal aliens,” said Gabriel Martinez, acting field office director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Houston.
The Austin arrests come amid renewed federal efforts to strengthen border security and interior enforcement under the Trump administration, which has pledged to end the use of digital parole tools such as the CBP One app.
