Fox News’ Laura Ingraham offered some rare praise to retiring Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), saying Republicans might be able to learn some “lessons” from the “ruthless” Democratic leader.
On Thursday’s The Ingraham Angle, Ingraham and Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo reacted to Pelosi’s announcement that she will not be seeking reelection, ending a political career of four decades. While both have been vocal critics of Pelosi, they offered some praise for her tenures as House Speaker.
Ingraham called Pelosi “ruthless” and argued Republicans should maybe take a few “lessons” from her legislative victories throughout her career.
I will tell you, if you’re a Democrat, I don’t think you are going get much better than Nancy Pelosi. I mean, she was ruthless. She didn’t care about bipartisan agreement. You know, on the China stuff, yeah, I’ll give that to her, but she didn’t, she didn’t care about that. She was ruthless in pushing through the agenda. She wanted Obamacare, she got it. She did the infrastructure, she go it. She pushed and pushed and pushed and on those things that she wanted, she was pretty successful. She pushed the gay marriage thing, she get it. You know so, there’s a lot that she did for her side, so maybe we can learn a few lessons from there.
Pelosi, 85, announced on Thursday that she will be retiring from Congress after her current term.
“My message to the city I love is this: San Francisco, know your power. We have made history. We have made progress. We have always led the way,” she said in a video announcing her retirement. “And now we must continue to do so by remaining full participants in our democracy and fighting for the American ideals we hold dear.”
President Donald Trump quickly celebrated her retirement, calling her an “evil woman.” The comment followed Pelosi blasting the president as the “worst thing on the face of the Earth.”
