(INSIDE CALIFORNIA POLITICS) — Reaction and condemnation continues to pour in following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. On this week’s edition of Inside California Politics, California Democratic Party Chair Rusty Hicks responded to the recent rise in political violence across the country. Hicks also weighed in on the state’s upcoming special election on redistricting, as well as the life and legacy of former U.S. Congressman John Burton.
Assemblywoman Alexandra Macedo (R-Tulare) also joined the show to speak about her experiences meeting Kirk and how he inspired her to run for office. Plus, host Eytan Wallace went one-on-one with former U.S. Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) on his efforts to promote civility in politics at Claremont McKenna College’s Dreier Roundtable program. He spoke about the civility award within the program and what action he says needs to happen to combat political violence.
Wallace also sat down with the new leader of the Republican Caucus in the California State Assembly. Heath Flora (R-Ripon) shared his vision for California and his top issues as he takes the reins from former leader James Gallagher.
