Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a group under the aegis of Tinubu/Barau/Atah Movement on Thursday in Kano organised a special prayer session for the success of President Bola Tinubu and Senator Barau Jibrin.
The prayer session, attended by Ulamas and supporters of the All Progressives Congress from the 44 local government areas of the state, was held at Gidan Baballiya Kurna in Fagge Local Government Area.
During the session, the clerics completed the recitation of the Holy Quran and offered special prayers for Tinubu’s second-term bid as well as Barau’s governorship ambition in 2027.
The clerics also prayed for continued peace, economic growth, development, and political stability in the country.
Speaking to newsmen, one of the organisers of the session, Seyi Olorunshaya, said it was conducted to support Tinubu’s re-election and Senator Barau Jibrin’s bid to become governor of Kano State.
“President Tinubu has done wonderfully well in just two years in office, look at the road projects, the food prices that keep crashing, employment opportunities and above all, his efforts on security,” Olorunshaya said.
“In the last few years, Nigerians who were earlier crying on a daily basis on insecurities, high prices of goods, and other commodities are now beginning to see real changes with everything taking good shape for the better.
“We have what it takes to present our President for the second term, he is a man of his word, he has kept faith in his promises to the people as they are being gradually fulfilled. Nigerians will see wonders when he is re-elected for the second term,” he said.
On why Jibrin was being supported for Kano governorship, Olorunshaya explained that he is “the only strongest person who can wrestle power from NNPP in the state.”
Leader of the Ulamas, Saminu Khalid Abdullahi, said: “Tinubu/Barau/Atah (TBA) Movement is a new support group established with the objective of mobilizing grassroots support for President Tinubu, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Yusuf Atah.”
He added that the vision of the movement was to rally citizens behind their governance efforts and to strengthen goodwill ahead of the 2027 elections.
After the prayer, a ram was slaughtered as a sacrifice for the victory of both Tinubu and Barau.
Kano State has long been a key battleground in Nigeria’s politics, with large voting strength and influence in presidential elections.
The ruling APC is seeking to consolidate its base in the state ahead of 2027, especially as the New Nigeria People’s Party, led by former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, currently holds sway in Kano.
Support groups like the Tinubu/Barau/Atah Movement have been springing up across the North to mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and to position key APC figures for state-level contests.
In Kano, Barau is being positioned by supporters as the APC’s strongest governorship hopeful capable of challenging the NNPP in 2027.
