Jeffrey Epstein privately acknowledged that British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor did have his photo taken with Virginia Giuffre, according to newly released emails that appear to shed fresh light on the infamous picture the former prince has long insisted may have been faked.
The correspondence, disclosed in a vast tranche of documents released by Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, includes a 2011 email in which Epstein downplays Giuffre’s credibility while conceding a photograph was taken of her and Andrew.
The photo was first published in 2011 by British newspaper The Mail on Sunday with Giuffre’s story.
Speaking to a journalist at the time, Epstein wrote at the time: “The girl has fled the country with an outstanding arrest warrant. The da (sic) after she accused others, said in writing that she has no credibility, she was never 15 years old working for me, her story made it seem like she first worked for trump at that age and was met by ghislaine maxwell.”
He continued: “Total horsesh*t, the daily mail paid her money, they admitted it, with the statement that it took money to coax out the truth.”
“Yes she was on my plane, and yes she had her picture taken with Andrew, as many of my employees have,” he added.
Andrew, who was stripped of his titles earlier this year, has repeatedly said he has no memory of meeting Giuffre and questioned the authenticity of the image reportedly taken in Ghislaine Maxwell’s London home.
Giuffre, who died earlier this year by suicide, had alleged that Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her as a teenager and that she had sex with Andrew on three occasions, claims the royal has consistently and strongly denied.
Another exchange appears to show Epstein forwarding a media inquiry to someone listed as “The Duke,” believed to be Andrew.
Epstein quips: “Im not sure how to respond, the only person she didn’t have sex with was Elvis.”
The reply reads: “Please make sure that every statement or legal letter states clearly that I am NOT involved and that I knew and know NOTHING about any of these allegations. I can’t take any more of this my end.”
When Andrew was confronted with the image during his disastrous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, he said: “I have absolutely no memory of that photograph ever being taken… You can’t prove whether or not that photograph is faked or not.”
