The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has tasked the Command’s tactical and operational heads to step up their crime-fighting strategies and maintain the gains achieved under Operation Kukan Kura.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa.
The statement noted that the CP commended the officers for their professionalism, dedication, and sacrifices, which have contributed to the state’s relative peace in recent months.
According to Bakori, the Command has recorded “notable achievements” in curbing thuggery-related crimes, popularly known as Daba, alongside other criminal activities.
“We must remain proactive and relentless in our operations until criminal elements either abandon their unlawful activities or are brought to justice,” the CP said.
He credited the progress to the collective efforts of police personnel across the state but urged them to remain vigilant.
Bakori also emphasised the importance of integrity in policing, warning against corruption and misconduct that could erode public trust.
“Unprofessional conduct undermines the Command’s collective effort to safeguard lives and property. I strongly warn against any act that could damage the trust of the people we serve,” he added.
The CP further emphasised the importance of community-based policing, stressing that closer collaboration with residents was crucial to sustaining peace and enhancing crime detection.
“Policing cannot succeed without the people. We must work closely with communities to build trust and enhance safety,” Bakori said.
While commending the officers for their continued commitment, the Commissioner assured them of the Command’s full support as they intensify their efforts to combat crime across the state.
