Some former members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly have passed a vote of confidence in Governor Nasir Idris, citing his impressive performance and people-oriented leadership within just two years in office.
The endorsement was made on Monday during a courtesy visit by the Association of Ex-Lawmakers to the governor at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
The forum, led by its Chairman and former Speaker of the Assembly, Hassan Shalla, said the gesture was a mark of appreciation for the governor’s developmental strides across the state.
Shalla noted that the state capital has witnessed a visible transformation under the leadership of Dr. Nasir Idris.
“We are all living witnesses to your infrastructural strides. From road construction to health, education, and empowerment programmes, your projects have touched all sectors of the state’s economy,” he said.
He added that the group was proud to see a “seasoned teacher and committed labour leader” steering the affairs of Kebbi, expressing optimism that the education sector would experience lasting reform and revitalisation.
The vote of confidence was formally moved by the former Deputy Speaker and representative of Zuru constituency, Jafaru Mohammed and seconded by Nafi’u Bagudo, who once represented Bagudo constituency. The motion was unanimously adopted by the forum.
In his response, Idris expressed gratitude for the solidarity and described the endorsement as a morale booster for his administration.
“I sincerely appreciate your visit and support. We will continue to run an inclusive government that listens to the people and delivers on its promises,” the governor said.
He appealed to the ex-lawmakers and all stakeholders in the state to continue supporting his administration in the collective effort to move Kebbi forward.
