POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Rescue and medical crews out of Powell County helped get an injured man deep in Gray’s Arch Trail back out to safety on Sunday morning.

Just before 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, crews with Powell County Search and Rescue had been told a man had fallen and possibly fractured his ankle on the trail. At the bottom of the arch, officials said he couldn’t walk.

Immediately realizing the rescue would require him to be carried out, Powell County rescue crews reached out to the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and the Estill County Rescue Squad to help.
