The newly elected Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Adetola Abubakar, has presented 300 free General Certificate Examination forms to school leavers within the council area.

The event, held at the Council Multipurpose Hall, on Thursday saw beneficiaries receiving the forms after undergoing a screening exercise.

Abubakar described the initiative as part of her administration’s resolve to remove barriers to education and create equal opportunities for young people.

A statement on Thursday noted that the gesture builds on her administration’s drive for inclusive governance, which has placed education and youth empowerment at the centre of its policies.

“The programme further reaffirms her administration’s passion for youth empowerment and educational development, a commitment that continues to place Agboyi-Ketu LCDA on a progressive path,” the statement read.

Abubakar, who previously served as Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, emerged chairman of the council on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

In the last council polls, Abubakar was declared winner after she polled 42,770 votes, defeating her closest rival, Mr. Salami Taofeek of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 1,400 votes, while Mr. Shoyemi Tolulope of the Labour Party polled 962 votes.
